Dr. Mary Cheyne is a clinical and forensic psychologist. In her private practice she focuses on evaluation of children, adolescents and adults with a wide variety of behavioral, learning, emotional and life change issues. She has extensive experience in educational/neuropsychological testing and consultation to a variety of other professionals, including physicians and schools.
Dr. Cheyne provides threat and violence risk assessments and consultation for schools. She conducts forensic evaluations for the juvenile and family courts and provides expert testimony. She is a member of the Northeastern Connecticut Juvenile Justice Review Board. She has been a faculty member for the Connecticut Family Court GAL-AMC trainings, lecturing to attorneys, judges and mental health professionals on psychological assessment, risk, interviewing and adult psychopathology.
Dr. Cheyne is an active member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and a founding member of the ATAP New England Chapter. She is also a founding member of the Connecticut Psychological Association’s Forensic Division. A graduate of the FBI New Haven Citizens’ Academy, she is an advisor to its Alumni Association Board of Directors. She earned her Doctorate and Master’s in psychology from the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology and her Bachelors’ from Trinity College.
